Please tell us about your role in JDT Vietnam.
As the Manager of the Import and Export Section, I am responsible for the acceptance of fabrics and raw materials, management of imported goods such as chemicals subject to processing, and shipment of processed fabrics. Our product destinations are both domestic and overseas. JDT Vietnam has many customers in Europe and the United States, and we mainly export products from Vietnam to overseas, so I focus on schedule management to ensure that products can be shipped on time as ordered, while handling various trade-related procedures. In other words, my job involves the “entry” and “exit” of production.
At work or in the company, what would you like to challenge and achieve in the future?
I would like to work on cost reduction for more efficient logistics. I want to make sure that products are shipped on time by not only focusing on progress in production, but also in actively gathering information on socio-economic and overseas trends that may affect imports and exports. I will also strive to thoroughly understand logistics costs, including transportation costs, and manage them appropriately to contribute to more efficient logistics in terms of cost. One of my goals is to always perform at a higher level of work by accurately understanding and appropriately responding to customs regulations and conducting safer and smoother trade practices.
What are your challenges outside of work? What do you like to do? Any hobbies?
My hobby is traveling. At JDT Vietnam, the company organizes travel events, and I join these events with my family. We can go to many places as a large group with our colleagues and their families, so my family looks forward to these events as well. On my days off, I refresh myself by spending time playing with my children or helping them with their studies, and this is very precious time for me. What I would like to do in the future outside of work is to learn more about the culture and history of other countries. I am interested in languages such as Chinese, so I want to study hard and be able to communicate in foreign languages.
Please tell us what JDT Vietnam means to you.
JDT Vietnam is a place where you can gain not only a variety of experiences but also develop management skills. It is especially an important place for me because it provides an environment where I can grow through work. I used to work for another Japanese company, and from that experience, I think one of the attractive points of JDT Vietnam is that it is a comfortable place to work, and every day brings a sense of fulfillment. There are times when I am unsure of what to do or feel that I lack knowledge and experience, but I can focus on my work with peace of mind because I can consult with anyone without hesitation, including the Japanese staff. Because my superiors and colleagues instruct me in an easy to understand and careful manner, I can improve my skills. Also, when my efforts lead to achieving good results, I feel a sense of accomplishment.
Comparing before and after you joined the company, what has changed?
I can make use of what I have learned in college at JDT Vietnam. Moreover, I can gain practical experience through work. One of the biggest changes is that I receive a salary and have become independent. I think this has led to building my confidence. Through work, I have been able to discover not only my strengths, but also my weaknesses. This is very important when considering my own future, and knowing my weaknesses gives me a stronger desire to overcome them and continue to grow.
