Please tell us about your role in the Thanh Chuong Factory.
I joined MATSUOKA after graduating from college. Since I had no sewing experience, I started at an entry level position, but now I do the work of marking and adjusting patterns.
There are many tasks that require meticulous requirement, so sometimes I make mistakes. In particular, sometimes I cannot understand the Japanese language or don’t understand correctly, and this is a thing that I find difficult with my job. In the beginning, sometimes I was at a loss and could not figure out how to solve a problem. But other people, including the Production Manager and other Japanese employees, helped me every day. Lately, I have been able to make my work run smoothly, and I feel happy about that.
We now work hard together every day as a unified team. The daily work, working as a team to overcome challenges, is what I enjoy the most. I want to work hard to contribute more to the company.
At work or in the company, what would you like to challenge and achieve in the future?
I’ve only been here for a little over a year, but I want to learn all aspects of sewing techniques, not just the work of marking and adjusting patterns. Lately, although not directly related to my daily work, I have also been trying my hand at making shirts and pants samples for my own personal development. I ask my Japanese supervisor or a technical expert to check the garments I have made and make any changes they suggest for improvements.
I also want to learn from the senior staff around me about things like attitude towards life and business to become a well-educated person. I would like to take on new challenges every day and take on positions such as Technical Manager or Production Manager in the future.
What are your challenges outside of work? What do you like to do? Any hobbies?
My hobbies are reading and fashion. I am particularly interested in watching fashion models. Watching models is a great inspiration for making clothes. Reading enriches the mind and fashion stimulates creativity, so both are important hobbies for me.
Please tell us what MATSUOKA means to you.
For me, fresh out of college, MATSUOKA was the first job opportunity I found in my rural district offered by a Japanese company. I had originally planned to start my career in Ho Chi Minh City or another big city after graduating from college. This is because I thought there was no company in my rural district where I could do what I wanted to do. So, it was very fortunate for me that the MATSUOKA factory was built in my district at the same time as I graduated from college.
Thanks to this opportunity, I can spend time with my parents every day when I go home from work. My family is very happy that I found a job close to home. When I graduated from college, my parents were worried that I would soon go far away from home, so it was the best news for my family that I was able to get a job here.
Comparing before and after you joined the company, what has changed?
Since my transition from a student to a member of society, I feel that my responsibilities have increased significantly. I learn a lot from colleagues of different ages and feel that I am growing every day. When I was a student, I had a lot of free time other than studying, and I could spend a lot of time hanging out with my friends or having fun.
But now that I am in the company, it is important to be on time and follow company rules. I am surrounded by senior staff and colleagues at work, and my parents have praised me, saying that I am growing through my work. Sometimes work is difficult, but I feel that the joy of overcoming those difficulties, and the time spent enjoying meals or having parties with colleagues after work is irreplaceable and invaluable.
