THANH CHUONG MATSUOKA CO., LTD. (the Thanh Chuong Factory), located in Nghệ An Province in north-central Vietnam, is a factory specializing in women’s wear. Located in a rural area, it is about a two hour drive from the airport in the provincial capital, Vinh. Remarkably, this factory was built outside of an industrial complex. This uniqueness stands out even among other MATSUOKA Group companies. The establishment of the factory involved a number of difficulties that had to be overcome, and it was challenging for MATSUOKA, but the decision and actions taken then became a major weapon for us. Now, the factory has succeeded in differentiating itself from other factories in Vietnam.

Competitiveness Gained Through Challenges

“Many people have gone to work in the cities, but if a factory is built here, they will be able to return to their villages while working in the factory and leading a stable life with their families” ― this was the long-standing local people’s thoughts, and eventually, became the driving force behind the establishment of the factory. Unlike factories located in an industrial complex, the Thanh Chuong Factory prevents the outflow of human resources and thus reduces various costs. This is one of the important features of the factory. When looking for a site for industrial purposes, the location in a rural area seems to be a disadvantage at first glance. However, this unique environment actually enhances its competitiveness and makes it stand out.

Strengths As a Factory Specializing in Women’s Wear

As a factory specializing in women’s wear, the Thanh Chuong Factory produces fashionable wear with excellent sewing techniques. While production is increasingly moving out of China, Vietnam’s proximity to Japan allows it to respond quickly to customers’ delivery requirements. In an environment where labor costs are rising in the garment industry and other industries, the Thanh Chuong Factory, which is located outside of an industrial complex, can produce high quality products while keeping costs down. The factory therefore has strengths based on both delivery times and cost advantages.

Factory with Strong Presence Has Strong Potential

The scale of the Thanh Chuong Factory, such as the size of the factory area and the number of employees, is not as large as other Group factories in Vietnam, but its uniqueness and competitiveness give it advantages. If a unique business model is established in which the Thanh Chuong Factory makes full use of its unique advantages, grows together with the local community and creates new jobs, further expansion of the factory can be expected.
